Project 366: Week 22

May 29 - June 4

Sunday: As is usual, I did not take a picture this Sunday.  I was amused by these two sweet tea containers!  I took this picture at the Memorial Day picnic at the Howland farm.
I am thankful for the generosity of the Howland family.  They are so kind to open their home and property to our church and allow us to enjoy an afternoon of fellowship and food!

Monday: Memorial Day!  We spent most of the day at the Howland's farm for the annual picnic.  The kids actually swam in the lake for the first time, and they had a great time.  I spent most of the day sitting and talking with my grandmother.  She was visiting from AZ.
I am thankful for the time of fellowship where I could spent time talking with my grandmother and many people from the church.  I often don't get to talk with people at church because I'm chasing children or taking children to the bathroom or otherwise occupied in making sure my children survive until the next day.  So it was nice to have a bit of time to actually have a conversation with a few people and I am thankful for that.

Tuesday: Another busy day, but I promised that I would make sure Kyle got a chance to practice his violin.  (He had been asking since Sunday.)  It turned out that he didn't get to practice until after 9 pm.
I am thankful for Kyle's love of music.  He really enjoys playing his violin and tinkering with other instruments as well.

Wednesday: We went to Megan's house so that the kids could ride bikes.  Sophia just started reading the Magic Tree House books and could put her first one down!  She kept trying to find time to read it while playing with her cousins!
I am thankful to have another reader!  Reading opens so many doors and adventures that I am glad that Sophia now has those open to her.

Thursday: I asked Mercy if she wanted a ponytail or pigtails.  She choose pigtails!  I loved how bouncy they were, so we went outside to see if we could get a picture of them bouncing.  She was happy to oblige!
I am thankful for her fun and bouncy personality.  The Lord has given her a sweet disposition that aims to please and to help.  I look forward to seeing what he does in her life as she grows.

Friday: Patrick has started to get into EVERYTHING!  His current nickname is trouble since he always seems to be causing some.  All you have to do is turn your back for a couple of seconds and he is either on top of something or dumping something out!  It is fun and annoying all wrapped up together.  Here Patrick is exploring the shelves above the stereo system.  He quickly realized that it wasn't much fun and that he needed help getting down.
I am thankful for my toddler and his sense of adventure.  Every child has been different at this age, and Patrick is no exception.  I love seeing the world through their eyes and trying to get a glimpse of some of the wonder that they see.

Saturday: Many months ago, Kyle found a Stars and Strikes coin in the pocket of a pair of shorts that we got at the thrift store.  Ever since then, he has wanted to go to Stars and Strikes for his birthday, though I am not sure he even knew what it was!  Adrian found  http://www.kidsbowlfree.com/. So we looked into it, and decided to take all the kids to Stars and Strikes to celebrate Kyle's birthday.  The kids were so surprised to have such an unusual outing!  Everyone, except maybe Patrick, had a great time!
I am thankful for the opportunity to do something different with the kids.  I like giving them chances to do different things, and this was a fun activity for all of us!
